Past Results of The Cheltenham Festival |
The Cheltenham Festival is one of the most prestigious, valuable National Hunt meetings in the United Kingdom. A win a Cheltenham, no matter in which race, is sure to catapult the horse and its connections to instant recognition. Winners at Cheltenham, particularly - of course - those first across the line at the coveted Cheltenham Gold Cup enter a tradition of legendary equine athletes.
The Cheltenham Festival seems to provide role models for anyone working in whichever section of the horse racing industry. Up-and-coming female jockeys worship the skill of Ruby Walsh, who won the title of Top Jockey of the Festival no less than four times in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2009. In 2009 Walsh took the title with an astonishing seven wins during the four day event.
Three years of Cheltenham Gold Cup history were dominated by the rivalry between Kauto Star and Denman, who were competing for their third and second Gold Cup win respectively in 2010. However, it was third favourite Imperial Commander who ran to victory, leaving the leaders to pick up the pieces.
It seems that Cheltenham is more prone to sensation than any other racing venue. Wonderful races are staged all over the country; the true magic is reserved for the Cheltenham Festival.
